professional, therapeutic optometrist Dr. Jason Larsen provides patients
complete primary eye care, including comprehensive eye exams with diagnosis and
treatment of most medical eye problems as well as eyeglasses and contact lens
prescriptions and consultations. A rigid gas permeable contact lens wearer
himself, he specializes in gas permeable/rigid and soft contact lenses. With
careful assessment, he helps patients determine which type of lens is best for
their medical condition, lifestyle and individual needs.
Dr. Larsen received his undergraduate degree in Zoology from Brigham Young
University and went on to earn his Doctorate of Optometry from the University
of Houston. He honed his medical and optical skills in Houston following
graduation, providing primary eye care and consultation. For 15 years Dr.
Larsen has been providing comprehensive eye care in a medical ophthalmology
practice in Yreka, CA. He then joined the Eye Center of the Rockies where he
worked for 3 years.
Dr. Larsen joined the Apple ValleyEye Center in March of 2017. In the community
he is active involved with Rotary International and the Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-day Saints. An Eagle Scout himself, he is also actively involved with
Boy Scouts of America. He has 2 sons that are Eagle scouts and 3 others that
are just beginning their scouting experience. Most important to Dr. Larsen is
his family. Dr. Larsen and his wife are the proud parents of 5 sons and one
Dr. Larsen is an avid photographer, this passion for photography was what
initially peeked his interest in the Eagle and Glenwood Springs areas. In 2010
he came to southwest Colorado for a photography workshop in the San Juan
mountains and fell in love with the beautiful scenery here. His photographic interests
include mainly landscapes and wildlife, but he also enjoys portrait work for
families and seniors in high school. His photography can be seen on his website
Dr. Larsen also enjoys cycling both road and mountain, putting around 2000
miles on his bike each year. Music plays an important part in his life as well.
He plays the piano and in Yreka was involved with the barbershop acapella
chorus the Siskiyous Serenaders, singing both lead and tenor. One of his newest
endeavors has been bamboo fly rod building and fly fishing.
Dr. Larsen looks forward to getting to know the wonderful people of the area
